Empathy: Definition from merriam-webster Dictionary:

The action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner; also : the capacity for this.

Personally I don’t recall so much mention of ‘Empathy’ in the workplace a decade ago! Either it was a non-issue or everyone was empathetic (unlikely!)  Or we just cared for it in non-working life! In any case and for any reason, now we want the Leaders to have ‘empathy’ and if we think they don’t, we make an attempt to train them! I believe this is a character quality and difficult to transform individuals to be empathetic but I am hopeful I am proven wrong! Here is an interesting and funny video by Dr. Brené Brown on Empathy! Enjoy it.

Still doing Annual Performance Reviews? It is time to align HR Process with DevOps & Agile!

We train leaders to nurture ‘whole-team’ commitment and foster ‘team-learning’ in order to shift from highly specialized and silo culture that we have adopted over the years. So we have achieved all this but left out HR processes! We still do an annual performance based on individual achievements! It is time to align HR processes and train HR staff on DevOps. Every sprint or any other delivery intervals you decide on, HR should be part of it.

Why everyone needs DevOps now?

Posted 2/15/2018

"Technical Debt" as coined by Ward Cunningham. It is very much like making minimum payments on a credit card. It will catch up with us at some point. The debt needs to be paid off and changing application software and outsourcing are not the solutions. Gene Kim, author of "The DevOps Handbook: How to Create World-Class Agility, Reliability, and Security in Technology Organizations" explains.
